INTERVIEW WITH AMBER GARZA

How did you come up with the title?

I wanted to play on Star's name and as I tossed around some ideas STAR STRUCK is just the one that stuck.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Mostly I just want readers to enjoy the story and romance. But if they take away anything, I guess I would want girls to grasp the concept that their body is sacred and they shouldn't feel pressured to do anything unless they want to. And if a guy really likes them he will respect that.

What books have most influenced your life the most?

That's a great question. When I was younger I was influenced by Little Women and the Nancy Drew books. I loved books about strong women. As an adult there are just too many to name, but I am so inspired by Alice Hoffman.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Alice Hoffman for sure.

What are your current projects?

I am writing a young adult contemporary called TRIPPING ME UP. I'm also working on outlining BETRAY, the third book in the Delaney's Gift Series.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Here is a little excerpt:

“Did you get my note?” Tripp calls from his vehicle.
I nod wordlessly.
“So should I be scared?”

“Of what?” I ask, still standing by Mom’s car.
“Of you getting even,” he answers with a smile.
“No.” I shake my head. “You have nothing to worry about. I’m not anything like you or your friends. I don't humiliate people for entertainment."

Tripp's face falls. "Hadley, is that what you think? That I embarrassed you on purpose?"

"The only thing I think is that your car's in my way." I reach for the door handle on my mom's car.

"It was an accident. I told you that."

"I know what you said. I've also had experience with guys like you so forgive me if I don't totally believe you." I yank the car door open and give Tripp a stern glare. "Now can you please move your car? I need to run an errand for my mom."

Tripp nods, his brows furrowed. For a minute I think he will say something else. But gratefully he just faces forward and drives on. Letting out a shaky breath, I sink into the driver's seat of my mom's car and close the door safely shutting myself inside.you or your friends. I don’t humiliate people for entertainment.”

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Just thank you!!

BLURB

I don’t go for bad boys, or rockers.

And I don’t believe in love at first sight.

Until I see Beckett.

And things only get worse when I hear him sing.

There is no one like him.

The problem is that he wants nothing to do with me.

And I know I should stay away from him.

It’s the smart thing to do.

Only when it comes to Beckett I don’t want to do the smart thing. He makes me want to take a risk.

I just hope he decides to take a risk on me too.
