Kalinda Little is a 28 year old web developer who started playing around with audio and never stopped. Currently based out of Portland Oregon, she has spent time all up and down the West Coast, including several years is Ashland where she worked backstage at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She is a chapter leader for the Nine Bridges Writers, a nonprofit that aims to assist and support writers in all genres, by providing resources and critique. While she only started recording professionally in April of 2016, she had over two hundred hours of amature recording and editing available before that point. To date, she has narrated 27 books, with another 3 set to come out before the end of 2017.

Whiskey Witches grabbed me right from the start and had me till the very end. I really liked how Blooding had Paige working with the demons so Paige could find out how to use her magical powers.

The stor is set in four different standalone books, but I recommend reading them all at once. However, at times the story seemed to jump around which slightly confused me.

Overall, I really liked this book (I hope there's more Dezz in the next one) and I recommend this to anyone who likes paranormal books.

Really and truly, being an author is hard work. I get up at 6:30am and work until about 9-11pm with very few breaks. There’s so much to do! There’s writing and editing and covers and marketing and ads and formatting and websites and...that’s just your book. When you’re also working with other authors, then you get to do that with their books, too. It’s a lot of long hours and sore muscles and eating like a college student--not because you can’t afford more, but because you don’t have time for anything else. Your house looks like a wreck and you just hope that no one actually wants to come by because you’re screwed. Your family constantly wants more time with you and your writing is constantly suffering because everyone needs more time than you do, and you’re constantly being guilt-tripped into doing other things because… it’s just writing. But it’s amazing when your book touches someone. When your soul vomit reaches through the pages and touches and someone, talks to them, or teaches them something. When they see something they normally wouldn’t have. It’s beautiful and amazing. And makes all the long hours, sore muscles, bad meals, and whining kids worth it.

My Thoughts

This is the first book by CL Stacey that I've read and I absolutely loved it! I really liked Brittany's character. She's an independent loving person that doesn't fall over every guy she meets. Then there's Aryn and he's very relentless when it comes to Brittany and to what he wants.

Without giving to much away the story was well put together I really liked that it wasn't your usual women falls over every man that she meets. However, I didn't realized that this was the third book in the series so I will be going back and reading those as well.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance book.

MEET THE AUTHOR:

Natalie Barnes was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan on a rainy, September Thursday. She grew up on the Bay Mills Indian Reservation in Michigan’s eastern upper peninsula.

Married with children, she started writing as a way to have downtime for herself. Never planning on publishing until her first piece was finished. That’s when it all changed.

Not even four months after publishing, “Everything I Want,” she left her full time job as Accounts Payable and took the dive into continuing her desire for storytelling.

When she isn’t losing it with her characters, she’s jamming out or combing the backroads of the Upper Peninsula countryside. Blueberry picking to two-tracking and gathering; anything that has to do with the outdoors, she’s into.

Natalie also has an eye for indie films. Connecting with a screenwriter a couple years ago, there’s now a screenplay based on her first novel out there. She’ll continue to see where that goes and in the meantime, plans on having screenplays written for all her tales.

I’m at a table in the back-right corner, he texted. In a cab a few blocks away. See you in 5. Kylie was running a few minutes late, not rudely late, just fashionably late. I step inside and gasp. The space is filled with candles. Their lights flicker, casting shadows on the walls. Some tumblers are bigger, filled with shells, others are just small enough to hold the pillars. My heart jumps at the thought of Alex. Who else would have done this? How? He can’t be here. He’s in Miami. Chicago is not his kind of town. Or is it?

I take a few tentative steps inside and discover the flow of candles is endless, continuing from the main room to the bedroom. The air smells of candle wax and salty ocean breeze. I walk in slowly, making my way through the space. The bedroom comes partially into view; it’s completely filled with candles and glowing in their light.

I make my way in and the whole room is on display. A huge bed is surrounded by flickering lights, a chair tucked into the corner by the floor-to-ceiling window with a view of Michigan Avenue. Alex is sitting in the chair, legs spread wide, elbows on the armrests, hands forming a dome, with index fingers touching his lips. He looks at me quizzically, capturing my reaction.

I exhale and visibly relax, his mere presence lowering my stress level by several degrees.

“Hi!” I say in breathless voice, suddenly feeling overcome by the emotions of the day, energy leaving me and the warmth from the wine I had over dinner coming back to claim me. I’m ready to give up control for the night, let him be in charge. I’m way too tired.

My eyes shine with alcohol glaze, or maybe the unshed tears I kept at bay all day long. I step towards him and extend my arms. He’s on his feet and wrapping me in a hug instantaneously. We inhale each other and stand wordlessly in the middle of countless glimmering candles.

Alex finds my lips and kisses me gently, fingers skimming over my cheeks, tucking a loose, curly strand of hair away. Pulling back for just a second to look at my face, he places a gentle kiss on my forehead and tucks me under his chin. I’m so small against him, both physically and emotionally. He is the ever-in-control one. Finally, I feel safe today.

We spend minutes engulfed in each other’s embrace. Candles flicker near and far, on every surface of the suite, creating dancing shadows on the walls.

Finally, I look up at him, feeling calmed and grounded.
