Delve into an exciting new stand-alone novel in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall's "fast-paced and humorous" (Publishers Weekly), "utterly addictive" (RT Book Reviews) Immortal Guardians series.
Nick Belanger can't stop thinking about the single mother who lives next door. She's smart. She's funny. She's so beautiful he can't stare at her too long for fear his eyes will start to glow. But Kayla thinks he's just an ordinary guy who works in security. Finding out he instead is a powerful immortal warrior who hunts and slays psychotic vampires for a living may not go over well, particularly since she has a daughter she doesn't want to endanger.
Kayla Dorman can keep neither her gaze nor her thoughts from straying to the man next door. Who can blame her really? He is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome with smart, charming, and honorable thrown in. He's also a few years younger than her and surely would not be interested in a single mom who hasn't dated since her divorce. At least that's what she thinks until an accident nearly takes her life and Nick risks all to save her.
The dynamics of their relationship swiftly change. The friendship they've developed over the years deepens into love as the two spend every minute they can together, laughing and teasing, never suspecting a threat may lurk in the shadows. But that threat soon strikes, making it clear that Nick is the target and his enemy doesn't care if Kayla gets caught in the cross fire. Though Kayla bravely rises to the occasion and is determined to do whatever it takes to help Nick defeat his enemy, Nick is terrified of losing her. Can he identify and eliminate his new nemesis before the man takes everything from him?

Exclusive Broken Dawn Playlist
Hello! Thank you for joining us. I’m very happy to be here today, celebrating the release of BROKEN DAWN, an exciting new stand-alone novel in my Immortal Guardians series. If you like powerful immortal heroes who adore strong women and paranormal romance that boasts lots of action passion and humor, then I think you’ll enjoy Nick and Kayla’s story. If you’re new to my Immortal Guardians series, don’t worry. You won’t be lost at all if you dive in with this one.
Music is such a strong part of many people’s lives that I’m often asked what music I listen to while I write. I actually almost never listen to music when I’m writing unless it plays a role in a particular scene. But there are songs that I tend to associate with specific characters, couples, or books. So here for your perusal is my Broken Dawn Playlist:
Like I’m Gonna Lose You—Meghan Trainor (featuring John Legend). This will always remind me of Nick and Kayla now. A brush with death brings the two of them together and compels them to live each day as if it will be their last, deepening their friendship into love.
Down With the Sickness—Disturbed. I associate this one with the entire Immortal Guardians series since the vampires and immortals in it are both infected with a peculiar, symbiotic virus that lends them their extraordinary strength, speed, regenerative capabilities, etc.
Shower—Becky G. This one reminds me of both Nick and Kayla. I love these two together, the way they laugh and tease and the happiness they bring each other. After Nick and Kayla get together, Nick’s hunting partners even accuses him of wearing such an adorably dopey smile that she claims it’s starting to freak out the psychotic vampires he hunts.
Maze—Mike Perry & Mangoo (featuring Wanja Janeva). This is a great one and represents Nick and Kayla’s relationship well. No matter what darkness they face, they will always lead each other to the light.
I Know You—Craig David Ft. Bastille. My Immortal Guardians family is such a tightly knit group. They always have each other’s backs, managing to laugh and tease even in grim circumstances. So this one I associate with the whole crew.
I Think I’m In Love—Kat Dahlia. The chorus of this one reminds me of Kayla. A divorced, single mother, she never thought she would fall in love again, let alone with the handsome, friendly, younger (or so she thinks) man next door.
Before I’m Dead—The Kidney Thieves. I’ve always associated this song with Immortal Guardian Lisette d’Alençon. But now I associate it with Eliana—Nick’s hunting partner—too. Eliana is so determined to live her long immortal life to the fullest. She is destined to have some amazing adventures.
Loving You Tonight—Andrew Allen. This is another one for Nick and Kayla, because no matter what chaos invades their lives, they can still lose themselves in each other and “take a break from crazy.”
Not Gonna Die—Skillet. I think this one accurately represents Nick and Kayla’s strength and determination to overcome all obstacles.
The Sound of Silence—Disturbed. I have a member of my Dianne Duvall Books Group on Facebook to thank for this one. I had not heard this rendition of the song until she recommended it. And I instantly loved it. It often makes me think of Seth, the immensely powerful leader of my Immortal Guardians crew.
What about you? Are there any songs you associate with particular books or fictional characters?
