Interview with
Erin Armstrong
What inspired you to write your first book?
I have always wanted to write. I have written since I was
10. One day during my many daydream spells I thought about this idea that would
raise eyebrows and intrigue anyone who would read it. Initially I just wanted
to write it for myself but once I really got into it I realized that the story
was too big to just be for my eyes only. So with that I pushed to have it published.
How did you come up with the title?
I thought about all of the trials that the main character
had gone through and all of the things that had been hidden from her throughout
the book. It just fit. The Twisted Truth was the perfect name for a book full
of mystery hidden agendas and lies.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to
grasp?
I just want readers to look at the main issue that my
character was suffering through. Yes it is fiction. However, the subjects that
I tackled in the novel are very real and serious. Also, I want the reader to
think, what would I do, or how would I feel if I had gone through a situation
such as the ones in my book.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
“So, they got the fire out now. They sent
some men in and were able to determine that the fire was not started
internally.”
Michelle sat with her mouth open. “What does
that mean?”
Getting back into the ambulance, he sat next
to her. “It means that they suspect arson.”
Michelle scooted to the edge of the gurney,
her eyes as big as saucers. “What are you saying, Ty? That my shelter was set
on fire…on purpose?”
He sighed. “They can’t be sure, but that’s
what they are suspecting.”
She had heard enough. Pulling herself up off
of the gurney, she jumped out of the ambulance and headed toward the burned
shell of the house. She reached the walkway and halted as a few firemen exited
the house and stopped her from proceeding.
A tall man placed his hand on Michelle’s
shoulder. “Ma’am, it’s not safe to go in there.”
Michelle stopped. “Is it true that my house
was set on fire on purpose?”
He nodded. “We’re being very careful not to
speak too soon, but from what we’ve seen, it was not an inside source. We’re
working on finding the source of the fire now.”
Ty finally caught up to her and wrapped his
arms around her. “Babe, we have to go to the police station. They will need to
write a report now that we know this wasn’t an accident.”
Turning to her fiancé, Michelle wiped away
tears. “Who would want to do this?”
Ty pulled her into his arms. “I don’t know,
but we’ll figure it out. Don’t worry.”
